If I told you I was walking 60 miles to help women get mammograms, would you support me?

Dear Friends and Family,

Life is full of challenges and I have just taken on a very special and powerful one. The weekend of June 14-16, 2002, I will be joining over 3,000 participants in the Avon Breast Cancer 3-day walk from Kenosha, WI to Chicago in an effort to raise money to combat breast cancer.

I have agreed to raise $1900 in pledges by May 17, 2002. I am looking to all of you to help and support me as I strive to meet this goal. I am walking not only for myself and my loved ones, but for you and yours.

My training program has started in earnest. I must work up to 35-60 miles per week in order to be able to walk the 60 miles in 3 days, 3 days in a row. Yes, this is quite a challenge, yet one that I am committed to do. And this is why.....

One out of 8 women will contract breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is THE leading cause of death for all women between the ages of 40 and 55. The mission of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is to make contributions to improving access to quality breast care for medically underserved women, and to advance breast cancer research in the United States.

I know women who are currently battling this horrendous disease and that is one of the reasons I have chosen to walk so far. This disease challenges millions of women daily. I hope you'll share in this walk with me and support me. Any amount will help.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Jenni
